Rotary Encoder
A rotary encoder converts the rotation of a shaft into an electrical signal a microcontroller can read, reporting direction and how far it's turned - unlike a simple potentiometer, many rotary encoders can spin continuously without a mechanical end-stop. Common uses include menu-navigation knobs, motor position feedback, and manual control dials for adjusting settings in a project.
