The Arduino Leonardo R3 is a powerful ATmega32u4-based microcontroller development board offering advanced capabilities for USB-based applications. Unlike traditional Arduino boards, the Leonardo communicates directly via USB using its built-in USB controller—allowing it to emulate a keyboard, mouse, game controller, or other HID device natively.

It features 20 digital I/O pins (7 can be used as PWM outputs and 12 as analog inputs), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, micro-USB interface, ICSP header, and reset button.
